Hello Everyone! I've been looking around the forums a few days and wanted to go ahead and introduce myself.  My name is Chris and I'm brand new to smoking and looking to hopefully get very knowledgeable and involved in the fun in smoking meat.  I've always loved eating anything grilled and anything smoked.

My wife just bought me a Master Forge Double Door Vertical Propane smoker and at the recommendation of many posts from people on this forum, I have purchased a Maverick ET-73 to monitor my meats and the internal temp of my new smoker.  I'm trying to give myself every advantage of succeeding at this.  I'm hoping to just take meats one at a time and attempt to learn as I go.  So of course I will be a frequent visitor on this website and hopefully be able to contribute some fun discussions while getting advice on my new adventure.

Thank you all ahead of time for the many "dumb" questions I'm sure I will ask (I know, no dumb questions :-)   Any other suggestions or advice is always welcome and appreciated before I start diving in.

Based on many of the discussions I've seen, I'm thinking that a Boston Butt or Beef Brisket will probably be some of my first ventures.  So look forward to interacting with everyone!

Well howdie neighbor! Just so you'll know there are no "dumb" questions!

I grew up in SC and currently live in  south Georgia. I love the Greenville area. I say start with the Boston butt, it is much more forgiving than a brisket, just my opinion. But, we will let the big boys chime in, cuz I'm a newbie too, kinda sorta.

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Welcome to SMF Chris. You'll like it here for there are alot really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. if you need to ask any questions go on and there's never a stupid question for we all started in the same place you did so ask away. So the next thing youneed todo is go out and rab you something to smoke. I would like Cheryl (squirrel) told you and maybe start with a butt. If you want to take all that time. Now you could maybe start with a Fattie if you don't know what that is you will very soon. So go get something and light her up.

Welcome To Your New Addiction.
