Newbie from Florida!

  1. :yahoo: Oh yeah...so i have been grilling for years and DO cooking for a long time as well. I've only had a gas grill and always used a small tinder box to try and get some smoke flavor. About a year ago i got an orion cooker and it took some practice, but I can get some pretty smokey flavor with that.

    Well fast forward to few weeks ago and I was at a yard sale and a lady had a almost new webber grill for sale. It was marked 10 bucks and was not put together. I glanced at it and offered her 5 bucks. Sold! :grilling_smilie: I used the fact i had to assemble it as leverage... But the legs were missing :th_crybaby2: i asked her about it and she told me it was a hibachi and had no legs. :rofl: (could not find the :eek:mg: slapping head emoji) so after some looking in her garage i gave up and took home a rare hibachi webber. IMO they just used it for a fire pit. And maybe only one time. The cooking grate had never been used and the ash sweepers aka vent doors were not even installed. They were there with a bag of hardware. So i call webber and tell them whats going on and buy the missing parts for another 28 bucks! :sausage:

    So now my son who is almost 11 is all into the webber. Wants me to smoke and grill everything. We are both hooked. So i look forward to learning from everyone here and maybe lending some dutch oven advice if needed. I have a nice collection of CI!

    Someone tell me how to add pictures...
    Oh got it...never mind. Making some wings.

    Now i have legs on my rare hibachi. Happy smoking.

    Welcome to the board! I got my smoking start on a legless Weber in otherwise fairly new condition. This was on a ridgetop property with a cabin and a campsite in the pines. I put the Weber in a car wheel rim like a ball in a socket, so I could swivel it to level on a slope. Lots of windfall maple on site.

    Congrats on the $33 Weber grill (hibachi [​IMG]). What a bargain. I keep checking out the yard sales and flea markets, but I have been unsuccessful. Looking forward to seeing some more Q-View.

  5. Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
    About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
    and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
    We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
    Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
    because their are so many different ways to make great Q...

    Everyone should have a kettle grill. I would say you got a good deal one one.

    Howww D neighbor.. (i'm in Palmetto)... what a great find on the weber... your gonna love it as they are one of the easiest grills to use... on a side note...There's a bunch of us from the forums here that are having a gathering in Sebring coming up in Nov. You and the family are more than welcome to come join us (the more the merrier)... One member coming from Stuart is into the DO's as well... he's going to give us none DO user a few pointers as some of us are interested in getting started with them.... It would be great if you could come and give some pointers as well... if your interested here is the link to the thread with all the info....

    Welcome Fl Bill,

    Glad to see you found this forum. We have camped a few times together with the POPUP Portal rally's. You make a great dish in the DO so the smoker should be a natural migration.
