Hey folks. I've already posted in another section, but thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Richard and am new to the art of smoking. Been dying to try it for sometime. Received a Smoke Hollow 30 electric smoker as an early Christmas present. However, the wifey won't let me use it until Christmas. It's just sitting beside the Christmas tree staring at me day after day. Kind of cruel aint it? I've been reading extensively on the forum, and it sure seems you guys are quite good at this. I know I'll be picking some folks brains in the days to come, and I'll try to keep everyone updated on my progress. I'm really enjoying the forum and I'm counting down the minutes until I can get started.

Looking forward to your first Q-view!

Thanks for the hospitality everyone. Smokers out back right now curing. First up will be a pork loin for my family in south AR tomorrow. This is my first smoke, so I'll crank up the Q-view and post the good with the bad.

From one Rich to another, welcome to the SMF. It's all good my friend.

So, the pork loin I'll be smoking is 5lb. I will be smoking at 225-250 using hickory. I have a rub I'll be applying then wrapping in bacon. I want to pull it around 155 deg. and wrap it in foil. Is it a decent estimation that it will be done in around 3-4hrs? I'm having to travel with this when it is done, so I'm trying to get a time table established.
