Newbie checking in

    HI All,
    Checking in from sunny South Florida, could not survive if I lived in Boston now.
    New to forum, not new to smokin but learn something new everytime. Old smoker is wearing out. Joined forum to learn about building my own smoker and/or smoke house.
    I look forward to meeting you all.
  2. Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
    About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
    and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
    We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
    Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
    because their are so many different ways to make great Q...

    Thanks Gary and thanks Soto D. I am confused on one point. Are the Vasconia and Imusa 32qt steamer pots one and the same pot. Amazon has both pots...Vasconia for about $50, Imusa for about $32, both plus shipping. I have the impression the Vasconia is maybe the better quality but don't remember now if that was someone's opinion are an assumption based on higher price. Any thoughts?

    There are many different brands you could use! The pots are all about the same; the lid is what makes the vasconia pot an easier build. The handle for the vasconia lid can be screwed off and the Imusa has to be jigsawed or drilled off. The vasconia lid also fits better if you want to attach to the bottom of the pot (highly recommended).

    You might want to check for availability of both of these and if they are on stock you can order one and pick it up at the closest store with no shipping costs.

    No, I have never seen snow and don't care to. I'll be smoking in the keys this weekend and eating fresh fish. I'm good. lol.

    Bigd3077...I'm on Lake O...almost bought a prime rib to smoke tomorrow but just couldn't convince myself on the weather. Grilling, not smoking, wings tonight...40 min down another 40 to go. How's fish in the some for Gary.

    I went Saturday night for a couple hours. Caught a bunch of Mangrove Snapper, but only a few keepers. I think the bigger ones went to the reef. Still, the beer and rum went down great!
