Wife purchased me a Masterbuilt electric smoker for my birthday. First smoke in it was a whole chicken and a large salmon fillet, both came out amazing. I've been BBQing with a Weber gas for 20+ years, but this is my first smoker. Can't believe how moist the chicken was. I've got some ribs and a brisket to try this weekend. I saw that you work on the pictures or it didn't happen motto, so I attached a shot I took.

My first question is how "clean" do I need to wipe down the walls and such after use. It says to wipe down the sides, seal, etc, but didn't specify if I should take the rack guides out and scrub, or what. Also says not to use anything but a damp cloth. Also I've seen comments here about they looking too clean.

Anyways, looking forward to getting a lot of use from this new way to do meat :)

Welcome Catz. You'll never get it completely clean and i don't think you want to . This makes your smoker seasoned. I never clean the walls in mine. I might wipe down grates once in a while but they will rust if you clean'm to much. After a smoke i let the smoker cook for a while to cook off the drippins. This is only what I do. But i'm sort of busy and lazy at the same time.

Welcome!! Ahh the " to clean or not to clean, that is the question". I always clean my grates and wipe up the fat that made it to the bottom, but that's about it.

Welcome to the best smokin' site on the net. SMF that is. Wiping down with a damp towe/cloth is good enough. You don't want to deep scrub as you'll have to reseason the cabinet again. When racks are hot, you can usually use a grill brush on them and they'll be good to go. If there is a heavy buildup, use some dish soap and a scrubber. Hope this helps, there are so many ways to answer your question, but it's all good.
