Hello all. I've been lurking on here for quite some time now and finally decided to become a member. I'm from Gardner, KS. I primarily use an 18 1/2" Weber Smokey Mountain. I use a Weber Performer for smoking/grilling and a brinkmann stainless steel gas grill for quick grilling. I also plan on adding a Brinkmann Trailmaster offset smoker at some point this year. I've gotten pretty good at smoking most meats but need to get better at brisket and whole chickens. I enjoy smoking wild game as I hunt and fish quite a bit. This year I want to try and smoke a venison whole hind quarter. I have learned a lot from everyone on here ever since I started lurking and hope to continue my education in que. I plan on doing some spare ribs for the chiefs game tomorrow night on the performer and I'll try to take some pics of the smoke.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Would you mind updating your profile to show the other SMF members where you are located?  Might meet a few neighbors!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Hi Ryan, and welcome to the forums!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

Unfortunately I got busy yesterday and couldn't do ribs. Changed plans and got some chicken thighs out of the freezer, but I wound up baking them due to the storms that we had roll through yesterday evening.

Understand, Yesterday I put pork chops on the and the bottom fell out, Not complaining we really need the rain. Rained all day today which is good. My smoker and grill are out in the open.
