Hello I am new to smoking.  I have always wanted to try so I thought now is the time.  My name is Troy and I am from Tulsa, OK.  I have just purchased a propane Great Outdoors Smokey Mountain smoker to get started.  I did season my smoker the other night so I am looking forward to trying something next weekend.

What is the best to start learning on smoking?   Ribs, Pork butts,Brisket?

Thanks,

Troy

I would start with chicken. It can take wide temp swings and still turn out great.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Chickens are not as pricey, so go with that first.  Then do a butt.  They will season that smoker and are very forgiving too!

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums.
