New WSM 22.5"

  1. Just received my new WSM this afternoon. We have been using a MES 40 electric with AMPS for the past year and like it but didn't think I would get into the whole smoking thing that much. Wanted to get a charcoal smoker and my parents have a ECB used it a few times and had me hooked. Can't wait to start using it this weekend. Read all the info I could from the forums on this smoker.

    Us it straight "as is" a few times first, but if you are used to a MES, I see a BBQ Guru controller in your future.  All the flavor of charcoal and wood chunks and all the convenience of electric.  It's about as close to set and forget as you will ever come with charcoal.

    Congratulations, I hear they are great smokers. I don't have one but I want one.
     
  6. Congrats on the new wsm. I love mine. Just a heads up, sometimes they run a little hot the first couple smokes. Once you get a good coating you'll be good. They don't always do that but just in case don't pull you're hair out. Recommend chicken or ribs at first.

    Grats! You will love the WSM it is a super cooker for the $$, don't forget it will run a bit hotter for the first half a dozen smokes so make sure you catch the temps early to start damping it down.

    Check out cajon bandit and get an after market door. The one weber makes is thin, not air tight, and causes temp spikes. The bandit door ends all of that and you will have much more consistent cooks.
     
  11. Yeah was looking at the door you're talking about. Seems to be sold out right now will keep checking back.

  12. Wow did some spare ribs today. I am shocked with the result. Bye bye MES selling it the WSM is great!!

  16. Wow did a meatloaf and some ABT's yesterday and everything was great! The results from the WSM are far better than my MES.
