New wheels for Horizon.

I was wondering if anyone has put pneumatic wheels on a Horizon, Okie Joe or a similar type of smoker?

The land around here is mostly sand and moving this beast around is a pita to say the least. I was thinking if I were to change out the wheels it might help so I could wheel it into the shed when not in use.

Opinions?

i wouldn't do pneumatic......i put a solid rubber on my wheelbarrow and i never have to worry about air/tube failure. just a thought.

These worked for me, harbor freight 5.99 each, you might need larger diameter but these worked out very well.

If it's a heavy it, they WILL go flat... That much, I know.

Certainly don't want that, it's real heavy, about 450lbs.

I would agree with the solid rubber tires. Rubber over time loses air, it is a pourous material. With a solid tire you will be more pleased and take less time messing with tires and more time smokin'. It will handle the weight much better also.

i've also loaded the hell out of that wheelbarrow and went over all sorts of terrain and i always give out before that wheel.

I agree on the solid rubber but go with the biggest ones that will fit. At 450 lbs that bad boy is gonna need some help. You might look at an RV store for more choices in wheels

I agree IF you are gonna change them go solid rubber.

I feel your pain because I have a similar model and the steel wheels are a true PITA, my only concern and the main reason I never did change mine is because of how close they are to the fire box. I would still worry with the solid rubber ones.

IMHO you would need to Fabricate something that would get the fire box higher up and away from the wheels and then you are just getting the pit to high off the ground if you ask me.

Let us know what you come up with and how well it works.
I would be interested in doing it to mine if you can find something that works
