New UDS on the block

  1. Just put the finishing touches on my drum smoker. The ash pan came from my GOSM and the charcoal basket stands above it about 2½". It can cruise about 12-16 hours on a single load of fuel. Whatcha think?

How is your temp, I made one of these, and
i could'nt get it under 350. Do you just have one air hole in the bottom where the ball valve is shown. I put 4 1" holes in the bottom of mine, and blocked 3 off, and still could'nt get my temp down. Maybe just too much air.

I put about 8lbs in the charcoal basket, and lit a chimney and dumped it on top.

Thats a nice one, hurry up and cook something so we can see some pics.
  11. I'm still getting the hang of temperature control on this one. I have four ½" pipes, and even with 3 blocked it rides hot. I think I'm starting with too many hot coals.

My first smoke was before it was finished....just couldn't wait! It was chicken halves, beef loin roast and fatties.
