I wouldn't think you need to do a full burn out but you might want to put some charcoal in it to get it hot enough to burn off any residue the blaster might have gotten on it and then season the inside with oil so it doesn't start rusting on you.

OK sounds good, I have no idea what was in it before but it sat outside for quite awhile then was blasted so I'm guessing whatever was in there is gone, what kind of oil should I use?

I used non stick pam. You could wipe it down with any veg. oil or even peanut oil. Whatever you have handy. It's kind of like seasoning cast iron.

I used canola oil on mine. You want to use something similar to canola or veg oil that has a high smoke point. If you use olive oil or similar it might smoke and burn off since it has a low smoke point.

so to season it should i just coat it with oil and light some charcoal.

unless your basket is ready, you could do it now if it is. You want to be able to season the bottom as well as the sides so you need your basket in there. It wouldn't hurt to have your valves installed and the lid and all that too. You need all that stuff for it to work.

ok cool, i basically have it all even the lid, i just dont have the lid fit on there at the moment

Looks good. Does the leaking stop when you get TBS? Mine leaks like crazy at first but once I get it settled in and get TBS flowing it doesn't leak anymore.

cant tell ya cause i ran it up pretty hot, when it was pumping smoke in the mid 200's it didnt stop leaking, but its not that bad

not yet, i will be adding one very soon, more than likely before i actually cook something on it.

An ash pan is a must. Not just for the ashes but for the grease too. I couldn't imagine trying to scrape out that congealed grease and ash paste from the bottom of the barrel. I have to use a paint scraper to get it out of my ash pan.

Is the standard vent in the lid of a webber 22.5 enough or should I look into adding more exhaust?
