Hi all,

My name in Lacy Abbott. My husband and I have always been interested in cooking, and grilling. We recently decided to enter into the world of a Smoker! We have 2 lil girls our oldest just turned 2 and the youngest is a few weeks away from turning 1! Yes the are very close in age only 13 months apart! We could not be happier! So back to our Smoker, we purchased a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker. (The smaller of the two.) The first time we smoked my husband used way to many wood chips and smoked the crap outta it lol. I am going to our local Farmers Market in the morning to find us some fresh meat to brine and get in the smoker Sunday for our usual Sunday dinner with our friends. My husband is in the Air Force so your close friends pretty much become your family! Any wisdom, tips and or advise about the best way to use this beautiful machine we have please let me know. oh yea I almost forgot I am supposed to include our location. We are stationed in Charleston SC, but will always in Alabama at heart! Can I get  ROLL TIDE!

Hi Lacy! :welcome1: to SMF!!! We're happy you found us! You've come to the right place, we have over 45,000 members who just love to share their experience and over 900,000 posts describing it!
The search bar at the top can be your best friend when you are trying to find answers to your questions but you can still ask too if you want!
You might want to check out Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course, it will teach you all the basics plus a whole lot more!
Try using chunks instead of chips in your WSM, they burn slower and last longer, the chips will burn up quick and put off a lot of smoke in a short amount of time.
Thank your husband for his Service, we do appreciate it! :PDT_Armataz_01_37:
