Dallas/Fort Worth Area
Hello group,

I am from the dallas/ fort worth region, particularly Denton Texas.  As for what I do, I am a purchasing and inventory control manager.  I have been smoking meats off and on for about a year, but recently is when I started getting serious about it.  Recently finished building my own pit.  I can use it for smoking or grilling, depending on the mood, so I built a removable fire tray so I eliminate ashes in the main body of my pit.  The wheels I originally put on this are not strong enough to hold that much metal.  I am looking for steel wheels with steel spokes.  If anybody knows where I can get a set that is somewhat reasonable, I appreicate it.  Roughly a 13" wheel.

I have smoked ribs mainly so far.  Trying a brisket for the 2nd time next week.  Looking forward to trying other things, like pork shoulders.  I am enjoying the forum and all the great ideas that everyone shares.

Glenn

Nice to have you. We have quite a few Texas Qers on here. I'm sure you'll meat them soon.

Hello Glenn and welcome to SMF, I am also in the DFW area (Grapevine to be exact). You will find all kinds of great people and advice here. As for the wheels you are looking for there is a place in Fort Worth off of 121 and Haltom that sells casters, they might have what you are looking for.

Good luck and Happy Smoking.

Hello and welcome to Smoking Meat Forums!  I'm in Fort Worth, Tx., also.  Great to meet you and don't hesitate to ask any questions, we're all here to help.  One thing if possible, could you take a minute and put your location in your profile so others know what area you're from?  Thanks so much and enjoy the forum!

Glenn, Welcome to the Camp Fire my friend. I live in Wichita Falls. This is one GREAT FORUM and GREAT PEOPLE to boot.  Glad to have ya, send us some pics of the pit.

Welcome aboard! Would love to see pics of your pit sometime. I want to start building mine soon and I also do a lot of grilling so it would be nice to have a "combo rig"
