Hello all.  Quick introduction from a new member:  I've had an interest in smoking for quite a while but haven't gotten a start yet.  Been trolling the forums for the past couple of years looking for inspiration and ideas.  Figured it was about time I become a member and start taking my first steps.

What I'd really like to do is build my own small smokehouse/shed/whatever for smoking deer sausage in the fall/early winter.  Ideally I'll be able to use whatever I build for smoking other foods as well.  I'm a fairly competent builder but I have no experience with smokers or smoking meat.  Because of this I'll likely be doing a lot of reading & asking for advice.

I'm also a bit of a home brewer, have an interest in home distilling, and just generally like building "stuff"/fixing things.  I live in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada.

Hello and welcome MR, building your own isn't hard.

I do wish that I had found this site before I did it though.

I've been in the process for I guess eighteen months.

There's a picture, it's coming along.

I just stopped by to say welcome.

Enjoy.

My smoker is usable but It's still not done.
