Just wanted to say Hi to everybody. I'm new to the forum and I'm going to be building my first smoker in the next few days. I have a 250 gallon propane tank that I have taken all of the valves off of and has aired out for a week now. I', going to fill it with water tomorrow and let it soak for a few days and then start to cut on it.

I have smoked out of a store bought but now want to smoke bigger pieces of meat, so I'm joining the big boys.

I'm not sure how to build the inside of the smoker at this point so I'm looking around and getting ideas. It is only going to have one big door at the top and a smoker box on the right side, again not sure how to build that part of it. If any ideas I'd be glad to hear them. have a great day and hope to hear from some of you pros out there. Thanks

Welcome aboard racer. I have a big propane tank custom job myself, just upright with an offset firebox. Didn't design it or have it made, but love it. A few things I would have done different after putting a few pounds of meat thru it, so think hard about what you need and want to do, and lay the plans accordingly. I think my biggest gripe is I have 4 evenly spaced racks. I wish I had 8 slots to place the racks, even if I only have 4 racks. Put a turkey in and I have to remove a rack above. Smoke a bunch of turkey legs, I'd like to have less space beween racks to maximize space. Building your own will come down to what you want to do, so customize it as you see fit! Good luck and I look forward to your results!
