Hi all.

Chef Tim here.

I work as a professional chef and live in the rocky mountains, specifically Wyoming.

I just found a NB offset smoker at the local Habitat for Humanity store and got it for $50 bucks.  Looks like a NB original and not the Brinkman ones.  Very heavy.

The firebox looks like it's in pretty good shape, but could use a thorough cleaning, and the handles have burned off.  Sounds like this was a problem with these smokers, as I've read more than a few threads where the handles have been torched.

My project is to sand or sandblast off the rust, then re-paint it either in custom color or black.  have not decided yet.

can't wait to dig in here and absorb some smoke-knowledge.

Hello Tim and welcome to the fun.  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  The trial and error method works well.  We will try to help you keep the errors to a minimum since we already made them for you.  Good luck with the refurb.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
