Hi all. my name is Mike and I am from maryland. I want to start to smoke. Can anyone give me some input on a good smoker for around 200. I was looking at three off set box smokers. The char griller, the char broiler, and the brinkman? Hopefully all of you great smokers could send me i the right direction so I can become a decent smoker. Thank you

I have the Char Broil Silver Smoker and have been happy with it so far. I added a heat baffle about 14" long, a chimney extension, sealed the chimney at the cooking chamber, and am going to build a charcoal basket so I can use lump charcoal more often. With these mods using the Minion method with Kingsford and chunks of hickory, I can maintain 180-245 for 3-5 hours depending on the temp outside.

The Brinkman SNP is very similar. The only thing that I have concerns with is the thickness of the metal. I think it would hold temps better in cold weather if it was a little thicker.

My .02.
