Hello fellow smokers, well soon to be fellow smokers in my case. I’m a newbie with smoking. I just ordered my first smoker today. I went with the MES 30 from Amazon with a bag of apple wood chips. I relied heavily on the great recommendations I found on the site.

I have been grilling for some time with charcoal and decided it was time to take the plunge after hearing my brother talk about smoking up some ribs. So, I talked with the wife and now my Christmas present is set to arrive this Thursday in time for Saturday’s game day festivities.

I look forward to reading all the great articles and post. I know I will need more than a few helpful hints to get the ball rolling. My first smoke will most likely involve a chicken. Not sure how I want to go about it yet. I would love any tips or recipes you have for wings. They are a favorite in our house.

Just a little about me. I’m 36 and recently got married to my wonderful wife Amber. We live in Alabama and can be found most football Saturdays with our friends around the grill with a cold beer watching the Tide Roll!

Thanks for having me and hope to hear from everyone soon!!!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! We have an Alabama Members Group here and would like for you to join us.  One day soon we are going to have a Gathering/Get together.

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Just got the smoker in and seasoned it up last night. Loved seeing that apple wood smoke bellowing out!!!

I stopped at the store and got a large pack of wings, which I hope to smoke up Saturday using the scarbelly recipe. Also picked up two whole chickens and a rack of ribs. I got the fever baby. lol

Be sure and send us some pictures
