Hello All,

My name is Rick and I'm from southeastern Pennsylvania.  My daughters gave me a smoker for Christmas and I've already smoked a chicken and a rack of ribs, both turned out really well.  Smoking-Meat.com was one of the first websites I found when I started searching for information about smoking meats and so far it's the best one I've come across.

I have a Master Forge vertical smoker!  The only modification that I've done so far is install a piece of grill material 3/4 of an inch above the bottom so that the charcoal does not lie on the air vents, seems to be working well.

First off welcome to SMF there Rick. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Maybe someone can help me out with this forum thing.  This is the first forum I've ever participated in and I'm not quite sure how it works.  I just took a shot at replying to you because you were online.  Do we just carry on conversations, are there certain areas to go to to discuss "the art of smoking", like I said, new to all this!

Rick
