New to smoking

Hi, I'm a submariner in the US Navy and I just reported to my first shore duty. That means I have a LOT of extra time to start expanding and experimenting with my BBQ experience. I have just discovered the greatness of smoking and I'm really eager to learn and try all the different styles and recipes. I'm using a starter horizontal offset smoker. originally from North TX, I now reside in S MD.

Hey thanks for the great welcome! I appreciate everyone taking the time to say hi. I have already learned a lot, and looking forward to learning a lot more!! And no, unfortunately i was not able to use a smoker underway  haha
