Hey, my name is steve. i live over in the Florida pan handle, near Pensacola. i've been grilling for a while but lately have been wanting to get into smoking/bbq. Wife got me an early fathers day present in the form of a masterbuilt 2-door gas smoker.

I've been doing some reading on this smoker and it seems to be a decent smoker for a first rig. just looking now for any tips, tricks, recipes and ideas to make the best food i can for the family.

i still need to put the smoker together and season it. i've read some stuff on mods to make to it (cast iron chip pan, felt around the doors) but after that, comes the next big decision, what to make first in it. the kids love ribs so, i'm thinking a nice batch of ribs, but, we'll see.

Found this site and it looked like it had a good bit to offer in terms of ideas and experience.

Welcome to the group. You may want to check out the 5 day E-course on the front page.

That beer to time ratio may be a bit skimpy on the beer.
