Hello All,

Going to be getting a Masterbuilt, 30" smoker for Christmas from the spousal unit.  It will be my first smoker, I can do alot on the grill, but never tried anything on a smoker.

A little about myself.  I am a retired U.S. Marine, currently working as a letter carrier for a Post Office in Fort Worth, TX.  I am an avid Bass fisherman. I have two trips scheduled this year so far to Lake Fork.

I will be asking lots of questions, once I get the smoker set up and working.  Plan on getting a couple of pieces of meat to try out on Christmas day once I get it put together and seasoned, maybe a pork butt.

Look forward to joining in on some of the discussions.

First off welcome to SMF. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or you can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Welcome to our little global family!  We hope you enjoy your new hobby and please post lots of Qview (pictures of your smokes!) because we all love to drool!  I'm a transplanted Texan, lived here over 15 years in Fort Worth myself, originally from upstate NY near Fort Drum Army base.  We are all here to help you in any way possible, don't ever be afraid to ask questions; the only wrong question is the one never asked!  Used to do a lot of smallmouth bass fishing in Lake Ontario and associated streams and rivers too!   Now, down here my neighbor owns a boat and we go crappy fishing.  Some days its just fishing, and once in a while it's catching too, lol!
