Hi all, absolutely new to smoking. Been reading the forums for a while now, and salivating over all of the QView I've been seeing. Just bought myself a Brinkmann smoke n' grill, and found some great posts on mods for the ECBs. So once I get the mods done I'll be curing it, and getting ready for my first smoke.

Until then I love seeing everyone else's smokes, and QViews. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute in the future.

Welcome to SMF, Glad to have you with us.

This is the place to learn, lots of good info and helpful friendly Members.

Many of our members have years of experience in smoking meat.  They are more than happy helping Newbies learn the art.

We have members who cure there own Bacon, Hams, Jerky, Snack Sticks, Make Their own Sausage, etc. if you want to learn,
this is the place.

Don't be afraid to ask questions of them and follow their advice. You won't be sorry, you will be making great Q in no time at all...

Just remember, when curing your own meats follow the instructions included with the cure to the letter, this is not something to experiment with.

Never use more cure no mater if it is Tender Quick or Cure #1 or Cure #2 than the manufacturer says to use, this can be very dangerous.

Tender Quick and Cure#1 or Cure #2 are not interchangeable, neither Cure #1 interchangeable with Cure #2 or vise versa

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I've just talked to a friend, and hopefully will be able to get with him this weekend at his garage to get all, or at least most, of my mods done that I want to do on the ECB. Then it's smoking time.  My friend's a long time smoker, and had a big one he'd made from a 50 gallon barrel for the longest time. Then for his birthday last year his friends and wife went in and got him one that's on wheels, and he tows it anywhere he needs it behind his truck. Hopefully one day I'll get that deep into smoking. lol

Thanks for those tips Beer-B-Q. I've checked out the 5 day e course, and some great info. I'm loving reading everyone else's smokes, and learning from their experiences and mistakes. I love that the members here aren't shy about warning everyone about mistakes they've made. That'll really help me out to avoid those mistakes as a noob.

I'm an absolute meat smoking virgin. I've done some grilling in my days, not as much as I'd like to. But I'm planning on dedicating a lot of time to smoking. Thanks for all the help in the future, and the present.

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.
