Hi all --

I have recently bought a Masterbuilt 30" 2 door vertical gas smoker.  I had a very successful first smoke, but I'm quickly learning that there are a lot of mods that I need to make to this unit so that it operates how I want it to.  I live in a very windy area and today I fought the wind all day - it was terrible.  I'm just glad that the meat turned out very well and it was the best meat I have ever made.  Very happy and can't wait to make all the other mods to this thing and cook some more stuff in it..

Thanks for the warm welcome! :-) ill update my location later today once I get to work. My first smoke came out very well so I'm actually thinking about starting a sort of blog on these forums so that others can benefit from what I have done and will do in the future. Is there a proper space for that?

Thanks again everyone!

Welcome Pal, I see that you are thinking about making mods to your smoker. All I can say is that if you are happy with the way your finished product comes out, then I would keep everything the way it is. The only ones you need to impress is you and your family. I wish you the best of times cooking/smoking. Godspeed on your meat journey!
