Hello all,
Newbie here from CT and new to smoking. I have a Masterbuilt 7 in 1 smoker { won as a prize} and could use a little help. I have used this once so far and not very fond of this model. Smoking with wood only is near impossible to keep a consistent temperature, also a major pain to feed more wood/chips through the door - the water pan is right smack in the way. So during the last use I switched over and hooked up the propane tank and was able to maintain a constant temp. My question is, if I am using with propane, how much wood do I begin with and at what point do I add the wet smoking chips { pre-soaked}? When I added the chips during the initial use I could not get any smoke out of them. Also , any suggestions on making the wood / chips easier to add when needed? Make a large dent in the water pan?
