Hello from California.  I stumbled across SMF a couple of week ago when I started researching smokers and smoking meats.  I have always been a fan of smoked meats and have always wanted to do it myself.  So i bought a Brinkmann vertical charcoal smoker this weekend.  I bought some Royal Oak lump charcoal, hickory, and some ribs on Sunday.  For my first smoke, I think they came out pretty good.  I may post the pics in the Pork section.  I'm so glad I found this site, very informative and friendly place to be. And of course I made the usual mod to the vertical smoker by changing the charcoal pan.  Got the BBQ wok from lowes.

Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join us. Congrats on the new smoker. Have fun and happy smoking

Welcome... I think we have the same smoker no? Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Wait... I just re-read your post. Did you say you may post pictures? If you didn't think to take any... we could give you a pass. But now that we know you have q-view. You better get that posted my friend. We got a saying around here.... "If there ain't no pics... then it never even happened"

Welcome to the SMF from another SoCal member. This is good weather for smoking, so enjoy it. It's all good my friend.

Ya, I did take pictures. I will post them tomorrow night. Shall I post them here in this forum or should I post them in the pork forum?
So the smoker I got is the one from home depot. The one thing that concerns me is I think I may have gotten an older model or something. I picked up an assembled smoker from home depot. Last one they had. The model number was 810-5502-W. The strange thing is, I thought the W specified the wal-mart model. But all of the labels and everything showed that it was a 810-5503-S. After I got it home, I noticed it. The serial number tag shows it's the W model. But from what I can see, they are essentially the same. I even got the one with the new handles and not the magnet version. Oh well, it works and I am happy with it.
BTW, I am from the Riverside area.
