Just joined after picking up my Green Mountain Grill - Daniel Boone.  Finished assembly and burn in this AM and going to try my tried and true pork shoulder tomorrow.  Pretty excited as this is my first pellet smoker.  Up til now, I've been using a Masterbuilt 2-door propane smoker.  After four years of pretty heavy use, I figured it was time to upgrade; especially after having to JB Weld the legs back on last year and now dealing with the bottom that has almost completely rusted out.  Wish me luck tomorrow!

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from another hot day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Thanks for the warm (and smokey!) welcome.  The pork shoulder turned out well.  On the plus side, I was amazed at the ease of the GMG-DB.  Love the "set it and forget it" nature of the operation (forgive me Ron Popeil!).  On the minus side, I was surprised at how much pellet fuel was consumed - then again, the pork was going for 12+hours!!  Sorry I didn't get pictures.

That said, I had so much fun with the grill, I tried smoked spatchcock chicken next.  It came out mostly well (as pictured).  I think I'll crank the heat next time to get more of a char on the skin side - regardless, nice smoke ring and moist inside.  Very tasty!!  Any suggestions on improvements to the process very welcome.
