My name is Rodney, and I live in NC. I have been grilling for 25 years. Want to learn more about smokers and smoking meat. The extent of my "smoking" is on a weber grill using indirect heat, low and slow adding a few wood chips during cooking. Really want to purchase a smoker and try my hand at smoking meat the right way. Want to try out some new recipes, and pretty much just have fun with it.
Thanks!!

WELCOME !! I live in Salisbury. Bout middle of the state. Where U at ?
Again welcome.. Hemi..

Rodney welcome to SMF you've found a great place for lots of info and some great recipes. Have fun and happy smoking

As long as your food was smoked and tasted delicious you did it the right way, doesn't matter what kind of smoker, I know what you're saying though. Any ideas on what sort of smoker you would like to get?

Good luck, and welcome to the site!

Thanks for the welcome. Hemi, I'm in Johnston Co. near Smithfield. Not sure exactly what I'm looking for in a smoker. Want to see what other people have and how they like it.

As far as smoking on the grill, the food is good........with a smokey taste. Just hard to control my temp. on it. It's a weber "performer" charcol grill. Seems it stays too hot, and if I cut it back too much, the charcol tries to go out. Maybe I'm using too much charcol.

Welcome from another NC'er! I'm in Durham but get around the state (especially east) for work. The friendly kats and vast amount of info on this website should help you in your smoker quest (and afterward). Do your research online, read about the different types of smokers, and determine what kind you're after (wood, propane, electric). We don't have tons of selection around here, I found.
Check this website out for some good buyers guides on the different types of smokers out there (http://www.amazingribs.com/BBQ_buyers_guide/index.html).

Don't know anything about the weber line of grills but I used to live in Lizard Lick nc. Near Zebulon nc. I used to buy a lot of ''libation'' down at
Percy Flowers store in your county.

Ain't even THOUGHT about that
since Moby **** was a minnow.. Is it still there? Hemi.

Hemi, Percy's store is now 3 stories, brick, with a "legal" ABC store on the site.
