New to here, couple years smoking

  1. Name is Shawn, came across this sight searching for best knife to cut ribs. I just competed against 7 smoker enthusiast from a ham radio repeater group. Although I won, my slicing was terrible. Already learned a lot here, thanks to all who post.

  2. I live in Fontana, CA. I smoke on Green Mountain Grills, Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett. I did the competition with my Davy Crockett due to no power and only cooking two racks St. Louis cut pork spare ribs.
  3. Wow that's awesome! Congrats on your win, they look delish. Me personally, I don't care how they're cut, if you put them in front of me I'd eat that lol. Seriously, I've had the best luck slicing ribs with a very sharp carving knife. But really, I think the knife being sharp is key, I've also used my chef knife with good results.

    Welcome from SC, Shawn. This is a great site with lots of folks who are always ready to share their ideas and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading. I cut my ribs meat side down with an 8" Granton edge Santoku knife. The Granton edge keeps the meat from sticking to the knife and the Santoku blade gives some additional heft for the ribs. Look on Amazon for a good selection.
