  1. Hello everyone. My name is Tim.  I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and I am originally from North Carolina. I have a Masterbuilt Pro 30" propane smoker. I am a newbie to the art of cooking with a smoker. I look forward to gaining knowledge from you all.

The folks here are great, the search engine is bustin at the seams with good quality information specific to you, your equip, and your local. The Guru's here as fast on the draw to help and have the right answers. Its really an amazing place.

My suggestion I learned from a wise man, start a book, a flash drive, a recipe card file, a cardex, a notebook........ keep a record. what you cooked, what you did, it brine rub sauce, it, temp and it, weather, etc etc etc..... That way the next time you want to cook that meat again, refresh your self and see what you liked and didn't, and how you think you could do it better. Besides if you ever make the perfect smoke wouldn't ya cry if you couldn't remember what you did?

Smoke is about relaxing, no stress, enjoying even your mess ups, and we all have a few. But when ya mess up you eat the evidence. Amazing isn't it! People should be amazed at how in control and kicked back you are in front of the pit.

Nice to meet you, have fun with your smoke.

[IMG]to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

If you didn't read the Terms of Service notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. Rule #11......"Off Site Links are not allowed here at SMF" is something new. There are other simple guidelines for all of us to remember as we interact here.

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

  9. Thank you so much for the great advice.
