I've been smoking for 40 years but never had very good equipment(original smoker was a 55 gal. drum with a small cutout at the bottom for draft and two hardware cloth covered rings for shelves at the top and a lid.  Smoked lots of shad in one of these!!!!  Am moving to Salem, South Carlina in a month and plan on buying a Masterbuilt 40" smoker and doing lots of smoking!  Plan on following the forum regularly.  I do have one question about the forum.  How do I use my spell checker when starting or answering a thread?  Thats it for now.

Hello and

to SMF - on the spell check issue look for the ABC logo in the tool bar

The MB40 is a good choice and many here use them with excellent results , however since you have a history of 55gal. drums search through our UDS threads and (like the rest of us )  , and expand your stable to include one of them. [besides the time spent out fabricating it will keep you out of trouble

Have fun and...

Welcome to the forum.

In regards to spell-check, if you click on your user name in the upper right hand corner, then click on 'Edit account Details"

Scroll down to "Preferred Editor Type", change that from "Rich Text Format" to "BB Code Editor".

You'll then be able to correct spelling by simply right clicking on the under-lined word and selecting the correct spelling, it also makes it easier to copy and paste and the like.......it isn't anywhere near a quirky as the "Rich Text Editor"
