Hello folks .... I am a Catholic Priest in Akron, Ohio.  Until a few years ago, the only smoke I knew was the "incense smoke" in Church.  I purchased a small smoker from Sausage Maker ... aluminum box .. with wood burner on bottom.  Used it several times but I had to constantly monitor the internal temperature, etc.  While I love making sausage, the smoking part of it was taking up a significant part of the day.  FAST FORWARD.

This forum has given me a lot of info on electric smokers.  The one I would like to settle on it the Cabella Pro 100.  However, I am concerned if it has internal thermometers which monitor of the internal temperature of the meat as well as the internal temp of the smokehouse?  Do I have to buy something like a Maverick ET-73 thermometer as well?  Does anyone know how long this particular smokehouse takes to smoke sausage, etc.

Thanks for your help ... and blessings ...

Welcome Padre..

I'm sure someone here can answer all your questions about the cabella's  pro100. I also own a Masterbuilt smoker for my electric and can say i love the unit.

As for the maverick you asked about they are a great thermometer and give you the chamber and meat temps accurately.. with the remote keeping you informed at all times.

Again Welcome to the forum and use the handy search as Craig pointed out...it is a great tool that can answer almost any question you have.

Hello Padre and welcome to SMF - I dont have any info on the 100 but I would highly recommend the MES from all the posts I have read here

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview Padre.

Welcome to the SMF, and good luck on your upcoming purchase. It's all good my friend.

Welcome Padre,  I would also recommend the MES 40 which can be purchased at Sam's Club for $298.00.  I love the one I have, and it does have one internal thermometer Probe but I would recommend using something like the ET-732 or a  Thermapen with it.

Welcome to SMF, Glad to have you with us.

Welcome Padre, I have the an electric that's probably made by the same company as the SausageMakers and I use it all the time for small batches of sausage. It can be a pain in the butt until you get use to it, but like others are saying the MES is more user friendly.

Glad to have ya here and let us know what ya end up doing
