Hello I just started using an electric smoker, last year it was a cheap one that burnt out already. I love smoking meat, fish, turkey.

Located in NJ

I just picked up a new MES40

I have the MES40 gen 2, which gets a lot of flak from people, but I've had great success from mine, and I am very pleased with it. That being said, there is a learning curve to get the hang of it, and learn its quirks, but once I figured it out, and learned from other MES users, the techniques that work and don't work, I've had some great smokes. One thing I'd highly recommend for the MES, is using it with the AMNPS, and forget using wood chips. It will give you hours of TBS and save you heartaches from constantly feeding the wood chips and having too heavy smoke. You might want to consider joining the MES group, where you can search through and find lots of great tips.

I can understand why it gets bashed. Seasoning chip tray went on fire, remote didn't work, next day the unit wouldn't come on. No big deal call MB they send me a new control unit , remote and a new chip tray with loader.

New remote doesn't sync. so they send me a new control w/remote synced.

the AMNPS I was told about a while back so I have that.

Testing it tomorrow with mac and cheese.

Thanks for the replies.
