Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a hot & humid day in East Texas and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

How do i figure out the fire box size and placement of the plate in the bottom for the for making it reverse flow

Firebox size is relevant to Cook Chamber size  usually a minimum if 1/3 the cu. of the CC.  Dave's formula will explain that as well as RF plate It goes at the top of the FB to CC opening, you need to leave the same amount of cu. in open on the opposite end as the FB to CC opening.

Look over his tutorial , If you need help just post you questions and I sure Dave or someone will be glad to help
