I bought a new thermometer to add to my 22.5" Weber Kettle Grill. It never came with one, so I'm just doing a little customization. My question is about the placement. I'm not exactly sure where to put it, whether it be more to the side of the lid or if I should just put it right on top opposite the air vent. It's a bbq pro temp with a 2.5" stem.  I'm more concerned with the most accurate temp reading, not so much with whether it will interfere with big cuts of meat. I'm eventually going to get an actual smoker for the big stuff. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I would be more concerned with what is happening at or near the grates. How about going in the side between the grates?...JJ
