Greetings to all from Pearland (suburb of Houston), Texas! Very new to smoking - had a Brinkmann Electric Gourmet smoker for about 4 months - very unhappy with the results (no temp. control), so Monday I bought myself a Christmas present of a 40" MES model 20070407 from Sam's club. I spent all afternoon Monday seasoning it (thanks to the instructions I found on this forum) and will be giving it a trial smoke with a couple of chickens tomorrow!

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your present. It should provide you with the opportunity for many succesful smokes. Good luck with the birds and don't forget to take some pics, we love Qview

Welcome. You have a good piece of equipment there. give it a little time, read and ask quesions. You will be turning out some very good grub in no time.

Once again, welcome aboard.

Welcome to SMF! I've been using an MES and it turns out some fine Q. It would be even better if the cook knew what he was doing!

Make yourself at home and start smoking. Ask whatever questions you need to.

Completely off topic, but I bought my classic, 1970 Chevelle from a young guy, and his father, in Pearland.

Good to have you aboard.

Well I have died and gone to heaven! The chickens turned out wonderful. I brined them according to the brining recipe that I found here (what a wonderful website) & used no other seasoning - the wife & son both proclaimed it the best chicken ever and I've got to agree. Unfortunately I left my digital camera at the office so no qview. However I will be smoking 3 racks of ribs Friday and will get pics.
I was a fan of the old Sgt. Fury & His Howling Commandos

comic books back in the day and have used that handle for as long as I've been on the internet.
