New Texan!

  1. Hello, just checking in here at the front  desk!  I lucked out and picked up an Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn for $100 from our Harley owners group chapter recently.  It has only been used for cooking hot dogs, with charcoal in the smoke chamber.  I have done a few briskets now and am ready to move into some pulled pork and bacon.  Stopped in here and found some great threads, so I joined up.  Look forward to learning lots!

    First off welcome to SMF. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

  6. Thanks, everyone.  HEB has some big ole' pork loins on sale right now, might be time for some Canadian bacon. 

    I have been smoking for a while, but you can never learn too much with this art.  I am really looking forward to experimenting with cured meats.

If you can't locate the answer just ask folks here are willing to share there knowledge.
