I've been trolling the forum off and on for a while and visiting it regularly the last few weeks so I finally decided to join. This is one of the friendliest forums I've seen and it has been quite helpful. Thanks everyone!

While I've lived in VA for over 12 years, I was born and raised in SC so pulled pork is near and dear to my heart. I've never been satisfied with how I can fix it without a smoker… Last year my dad gave me an older ECB Charcoal smoker.  It was ok, but a pain to keep it going especially for longer smokes…  I converted it to electric in hopes it would be easier, but it wasn’t.  I converted it back to charcoal...  So I ended up buying an MES 30” 2[sup]nd[/sup] gen from Lowes last week.  I’ve since seasoned it and will be smoking 3 pork shoulders (picnic) later today as the first smoke.  I also bought the AMNPS just in case it doesn’t produce enough smoke since outside temps are rising…

This is a great hobby!  Right up there with homebrewing which I’ve been doing for many years.  I’m looking forward to learning as much as possible and smoking everything I can!  I’ll share “Qview” if I have time later today!

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a cool cloudy day here in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Welcome to SMF! :welcome:
We're glad to have you. The search bar at the top is your most valuable resource here. This forum has been around for over ten years, so there is a good chance that any questions you may have, have already been answered (they may have 10 different answers, but you'll get an instant response non the less).
Please be sure to post your smokes along with your process and recipes. We will be glad to help you along the way and we may also learn something new ourselves in the process. Also, don't forget the very important Q view! (We're mad for pics on here [emoji]128513[/emoji])
Always remember to have fun because it's not fun if you have to work at it.
Thanks for joining,
- Ryan
