I just built this smoker took me about 2 days i didnt spend much time on it cause i want to build a different one and make that one really good i just need a new smoker for this weekend and i figure i would practice on this one i spent about 70 bucks making this one. I also tested it out yesterday and it gets over 300 degrees in the top barrel where i put my meat so i was happy i was afraid i wouldnt get enough heat

thanks yea my father in law built his first one like this a while back ago and then i decided to take a stab at it i think i did a ok job but there are some things i need to change and i will change the next one i will prolly build is the 55 gallon drum on top of a 55 gallon drum

i cant either i will take pics i am going to be doing my first fatty today so i am happy

Interesting smoker. Don't forget the Qview.

Looks interesting I can't see the bottom of the burn barrel did you put adjustable vents for controlling air flow into the fire? If not it would give you much better heat control

yea i am going to put the new vents on it when i get a chance i just havent done it yet

and what is a Qview

Qview is pics of smokers, smoking, and the good stuff it produces

i will put up some pics for sure i am smoking a couple of fattys tommrow and a ham on monday

If you extended the tube from the firebox, you could use it as a baffle. Drill some smaller holes in it on the side closer to the firebox and drill gradually larger holes as you work across to the other side.

Just an idea....

that is a good idea i will check on that later this is just my project one for now
