I'm new to the forum and to smoking. I'm an amateur chef indoors, but am also cheap and a procrastinator. The gas grill I got as a wedding present finally died so I made the jump to real outdoor cooking!

I just put together a new Chargriller Smokin Pro and thanks to this website I did all of the mods right from the start. I did the dryer vent thing, sealed the lid and SFB with wood stove gasket, replaced the charcoal basket, bolted two new therms to either side of the lid at grate height and put in a baffle at the opening to the SFB. That's the only part I got creative: Because I will still grill occasionally I wanted to still be able to adjust the ash pan. I took my old smoke box from the gas grill, hammered it out and cut slots for the ash pan handles to fit in. Now I won't have to remove the baffle for grilling; I can just flip up the hinge and go!

I look forward to learning a lot and sharing my mistakes!

Oh...the Weedpatch BBQ thing is in reference to my very unkempt backyard where I will do my cue.
