Hay bazza i found these castors at bunnings. They are a rip but i like how the hub has spokes like a mag wheel. It has a grease points and the bearings are heavy duty. But they are $50 each
Hey Ben,

I ended up getting some off Ebay. I paid $45 all up (with free shipping) and they are non marking urethane. 130kg each which is heaps for me so even if I get a few years our of them I would be happy.

I would hit the inside with a wire wheel. Blast the outside. Looking good. I'm doing a big cook on mine next weekend.
Hey Isaac,

I had an opportunity to get it blasted so I grabbed it. Granted I wasn't quite ready in my build stage for it but that's ok. I can now move on with the insides and get my plate and racks in! I'm very much looking forward to seeing some Q View of your cookup!!

I just threw on a quick coating of hi temp so she didn't rust out as well as coating the inside lightly with canola oil. Really looking forward to smashing this out in the next week or so.

Hey AussieQ on a quick side note I got the sandblaster to do a cashie. It's a place just around the corner from me (Bayswater) and I did mention that he may have another to do which he said no worries. Everyone had no idea what the hell I was building :P

What was the high temp paint you used? Iam trying to find something thats not potbelly paint. I want something with a higher temp rating that dosnt cost 1 million bucks. If it does i might see if i can get a price on the high temp powder coat

I went the one from Bunnings which is higher rated than Pot Belly Black.

I'm not sure on what sort of temperatures the FB sees tho. The type of paint that Isaac mentioned is rated at double what I used but this was around $20 a can. If you had the pocket money then powder coating would be an excellent route.

Iam sure that paint will be fine. I was looking for one thats in a tin rather then spraycan. Usaully it works out alot cheaper and you get alot more coverage and its also quicker to spray.i really dont think pot belly paint would be suited so iam glad you went for the one with a better rating.

That hadn't even occurred to me to use the paint pot and spray set-up at my work. Would be a hell of a lot easier. I've only ever used the aerosol hi temp stuff in the past so that's what my brain was telling me.

On a side note I did see that Supacheap does cans for $17 which are actually rated to double what I got (1096 degrees C / 2000 degrees F)

Brisket and beers for me this weekend.
Haha yeah seeing a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

Never tackled the brisket. It's the last frontier I need to man up to! Be sure to get some pics up of your adventure. Good luck!

Haha pure genius! Would have saved me heaps

Yeah she's still reverse flow. Probably install the flue last though. Had some time yesterday so I got my angle installed down the middle for the drain as well as the drain pipe welded in. I've cut the BP to size and am hoping to get it welded in tomorrow (if I can sneak away from the wife and bub for a couple hours before they realise I'm gone).

Looks great. How big is your second rack, I've been thinking about putting a second rack in my build but I didn't think there was enough space to be worthwhile.

Hey Kyle,

Yeah I've been following your build. It's shaping up nicely! Your build is twice the size of mine as this is only a 30 gallon but it's perfect for what I need.

The upper rack is 11 x 29 inches. It will be ideal for ABT's or wings (if I'm doing chicken underneath it of course) or even a few extra racks of baby backs if I run out of space on the main grates. As this is a smaller cooker I think it will come in handy. It's removable so if I need the clearance for bigger cuts then I have that option too. Cheers!
