Hi Folks,

My name is Al, and I'm a smoker.

I grew up in a small farming community in Michigan, and there was always uncles or cousins smoking something or other, so grew up with a "smoke tooth".

When I got a little older, my brother and I tried our hands at it, beginning with the old Luhr-Jennson Little Chief smoker.  We smoked pretty much anything we thought would fit in the then-current build of smoker... pork, beef, and poultry to start, then more "exotic" things as we could catch them.  Anyone else ever smoked turtle or frog legs?  How about squirrel jerky?  Okay, I admit that was some tough stuff, but we had lots of fun learning while we did things.

Now, I live across the state, and have just gotten back into smoking meats again.  The wife bought me a Smokey Mountain propane smoker as a gift (Bless her heart!), and I've been smoking pork butts and shoulders for pulled pork.  I saw an article on cold smoking, and that got the juices flowing again.  Look out frogs!

Let me say this place is amazing!  I was looking for information on cold smoking, and read some of the posts here.  There's a great deal of information available here, and I've only scratched the surface!  I was amazed at the inginuity of some of the folks who posted their builds, and at the results they've gotten on the galleries.  Mmmm, my mouth's watering just thinking about that good, good stuff!

I look forward to being part of the community.

Smoke On!
