Hello everyone, I am Jim B from South Pittsburg Tennessee. BBQ is one of my favorite foods and I have dreamed of building a smoker. This forum is just the place to get ideas and learn from other's experience.
A little about me. I recently "semi-retired" after 40 years working as a histologist. 34 of those years were at Duke University, Dept. of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories. What is histology? It is the preparation of tissue for microscopic examination. I am also a life long fly fisherman and fly tier. My wife and I live in a rural area, enjoy gardening, keeping bee hives and traveling.
Happy Smoking!

Welcome to the forum JB!

We share a lot of the same passions, in fact, my wife and I were just talking about taking a beekeeping course....sounds fun!

Knifebld, thank you for the welcome. By all means take the beekeeping course. There is so much to learn about those amazing insects. You will say to yourself  (as I did) 'why didn't I do this sooner.'

keep on smoking...

Welcome Jim B you and your wife, will enjoy all the reading and creating ideas for dishes. The people on the site are all very helpful. What kind of smoker do you have?

I am a big salt water fisherman, tying buck tails now to loose in the rocks this weekend LOL

Hello Richie, Thank you for the welcome. We currently do not have a smoker (other than a BBQ grill with a wood chip box). I have always wanted to build an 'out house' style smoker with an external firebox and underground pipe to direct the smoke to the house. I view this forum as a valuable resource for referencing and hope to start that project in the near future.

I fly fish for anything that swims in fresh or saltwater. Bluegills to sailfish. Stripe bass are my favorite, especially in the winter and spring. Sinking fly lines and a big Clouser minnow buck tail streamer... game on!

From this old Jarhead, thank you for your service in a very difficult time in our nations history.
