Hello folks. I'm happy to have joined the forum. I am a novice smoker and up until now I have been smoking using an upright barrel smoker as well as using my gas grill with various methods to produce smoke including full size pieces of firewood directly on the grill! I am going tomorrow to purchaser a Masterbuilt 40" electric smoker and can't wait to get that going. I have a small hobby farm and raise purebred Berkshire pigs so I have no shortage of cuts in the freezer to experiment with. I live in south western Ontario Canada.

Pork Butt still on the hoof.  Whats better than that? You've chosen a great smoker in my opinion. I've had one for many years and use it often.  If you haven't  joined yet, there is a Masterbuilt Smoker Group where you can get lots of great information on your new unit!

Best of luck!

Hello fellow Canadian. I started smoking last fall and had little success until I found this forum. There is a ton of information in the posts and all the members are so generous with their knowledge. I am sure you will enjoy the forum as much as I have.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

If you didn't read the Terms of Service notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. Rule #11......"Off Site Links are not allowed here at SMF" is something new. There are other simple guidelines for all of us to remember as we interact here.

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
