Hello there! I'm about 15 minutes new here. I recently started going Bbq crazy and decided I might need some direct experience from you all. Right now I'm on the market for a new smoker.
As of right now, I use my dad's old brinkman offset that we learned after a year of scrappy bbq has a faulty thermometer that was about 100 degrees off the whole time.
I have been studying and getting better and better through my own infatuation with how smoker work and how the meat reacts to smoke. I'm in Wisconsin and need a well insulated smoker as I feel my compulsion for tweeking recipes and such will drive me to do some cooking in the middle of the winter.
Everywhere else I've looked has recommended either $300-$600 uninsulated smoker or $2,000 and up trailer pieces.
I guess what I'm getting at is; I am desperate for some insight on smokers that may fit my needs. I hope I am welcome here and look forward to chatting with some veterans and beginners alike.

Thanks much!

An FHC'er?
I got nothing on insulated smokers, other than maybe an inexpensive felty welding blanket....not very attractive, tho!
