My biggest concern is that i have read that most do not come with a good way to regulate the heat? I would think that an electric smoker would have a temperature contaol but i guess not?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations and info.

Cant wait to smoke some of the fish I catch off long island and also some ribs, meat etc.

Take care :)

Good morning, Aerostern. First of all, welcome to SMF, when you get the chance, stop in to roll call and introduce yourself.

One of the most popular electric smokers here at smf, is the MES which does in fact have a thermostat to regulate the heat. While I personally don't have one, there are plenty of members here who do and love em. I have the Brinkmann Gourmet & 2 Char-Broil electrics which for me are xlnt smokers.

Welcome to SMF aerostern...nice ta have ya here!
Not sure if this thread got moved, but it's in "Roll Call" now.

I have a MES that I just love. I took the advice of a lot of the smf members before selecting the MES. It works very well and my temps are always very close to what the digital readout says they are. I have the smaller one but now they have come out with a larger model that I wish I had.

MES = Masterbuilt Electric Smoker.....it is digital. You can get it in either stainless steel or a black model. The newer model is larger and has a glass door in it. A couple members say the new model works well.

It is almost set it and forget it. You only have to add chips every so often.

Welcome to SMF glad you joined us. You'll find lots of good info and some great recipes here. Seems lots of members really like the MES as others have said and it does have the temp control your looking for. Have fun and happy smoking

MES is pretty close to "set it and forget it". I love mine, had it about 15 months or so. Ran into a wiring problem a while back (quite a few others have as well) though it was an easy fix & has not been a problem since.
