I'm a newbie to smoking meat. I'm taking baby steps... I just bought my first smoker, a Masterbuilt 30" electric, with plans to build my own when I get a little experience under my belt. I feel fortunate that my father-in-law is awesome with a smoker and is mentoring me. My "maiden voyage" with my lil' smoker went great. I smoked 2 racks of baby back ribs and they turned out pretty darn good (if I must say so myself). They were much better than anything I've bought at any BBQ joint around here. The next weekend I smoked a 7.5# Boston Butt. It ,too, was very tasty (and pretty), but not quite as good as my father-in-laws. I was still pretty proud for my second time smoking anything. I'm planning on trying a prime rib and some veggies for Mothers Day. I'm hoping to continue what has started to be some outstanding eats.
