New to the smoking game here in Richmond, IN. Just purchased a Masterbuilt electric smoker at TSC with electronic controls. Couldn't turn down the sale price and the discounts. Smoked a 15 # turkey today to break it in. I now realize the value of a remote thermometer and plan on ordering one of the Maverick units. Turkey turned out great, but I probably could have cut my cooking time by about an hour if I had a remote thermoneter.
Looking forward to trying some pork ribs next weekend. If anyone knows of any other "must have" items that a novice smoker should have, please let me know.
Thanks, Sourdoughmike
