I am about to purchase a smoker.  The ones that I am most interested in are:
Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker
(Currently 177 on amazon)
Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse Smoker with Window and RF Controller
(Currently 259 on amazon)  The latest version is out of my price range.

My thinking is that I am rather old (almost 60), so I wanted something easy to use.  I would like as much set it and forget it functionality as possible.

Since, I would probably have to purchase some sort of temperature monitor for the 20070910, I am assuming the final price of them would be about a wash.  I am also assuming that the one included for the windowed model would be adequate for my needs.

I plan to smoke mostly brisket, beef rib racks, chicken, and sausage (in that order of importance).

Any help would be appreciated, as I want my investment not to exceed $300 to be up and rolling for some great smoking.

Thank you so much....Wayne

PS. Please feel free to make alternate recommendations.

I think your choice is great!  I'm a big fan of masterbuilt and the maverick thermometer. I have both.  My smoker is the 40" window and is about 5 years old now and haven't had any real issues.  The one time something broke the MB customer service sent me the part at no change. ...Even though the unit was out of warranty.

The maverick remote unit I have is model 222.  Love it.

Amazing Smoker was ordered last week.  So I have not used it yet.  But couldn't find a negative word on this forum about the little units.  You will find a lot of MB owners have them.

Let me know if I can help you with the unit.  But my bet is you find it so easy to use that youll be successful on the very first smoke.

Happy Independence Day. And have fun on the forum. There is always something to learn on this site.

Thank you so much, Brian.  Todd at Amazen is putting together a deal for me, and I am ordering the MBS 30" as well.  Can't wait to try a brisket!!!!!
