New member here looking for advice

Hey y'all Im from south Arkansas, I hav been cooking since I was a kid and have been toying with the idea of learning the art of smoking meats. I'm looking for sugestions on good smokers not cheap p.o.s tin ones I want something that not only performs but will last for years to come. Any sugestions would be welcome thank y'all.

Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it then smoked it.

Honestly, some of the best smoked meat I've ever eaten was done in a cheap Walmart smoker...

It's all dependent on the person doing the smoking.  One thing I've learned is, you can smoke a great piece of meat on just about any smoker if you know what you're doing.  Holding temp is definitely easier in a more expensive smoker, but with a few adjustments, can be done on even the most inexpensive smoker on the market.

Now that said...  Assuming you want to smoke meat for years to come, you're going to want a custom build or a reputable smoker builder.  I like several, but you should read this forum a bit because there are reviews of all kinds of smoker types on here.  Just use the search bar and search for 'smoker review' and you'll get quite a few hits.

Weber grill is a great place to start. They are not only for hot dogs and burgers. Can't do a large volume on them but a pork butt or a couple of racks of ribs fit. You can learn a lot about smoking on a weber. Very easy to use and hold temps well. You can picked up used for 30-50 bucks. Weber smokey mountain is even better but more money.
